The Gjermundu Helmet is based on a classic Viking helm found in a Norwegian burial mound. The helm was found in 9 pieces and has been reconstructed and is displayed in the Museum of National Antiquities in Oslo. The helmet is constucted of 18 guage stainless steel, and finished in a museum quality patina that resists rust. The spectacles provided excellent facial and nasal protection, while chain mail provided flexible protection to the back and sides of the neck. As with the original, our Gjermundbu helm is provided with a leather chin strap.
